The “Radan” House of Culture and the “Branko Radičević” National Library are the fundamental pillars of cultural life in the Municipality of Lebane.
The House of Culture was established in the post-war period and saw a significant upturn in 1979 when its modern building was erected. It features a cinema and theater hall with 517 seats. Its primary activities include the production and organization of cultural and artistic programs, as well as film screenings. The center hosts academic lectures, theatrical performances, concerts, forums, exhibitions, literary evenings, and runs both ballet and folklore schools.
The “Branko Radičević” National Library is located adjacent to the “Radan” House of Culture. The library organizes various cultural events in cooperation with the center and maintains a collection of approximately 41,400 publications (both serial and monographic) for its 1,380 members. Notably, 80% of the original book fund was lost forever during the flood of 1976.
Additionally, cultural life is enriched by the amateur theater “Katarza,” various artists’ associations, and the “Jablaničko Kolo” cultural and artistic society, as well as specific Roma cultural initiatives. The amateur theater produces an average of four performances per year, while the association of artists organizes the “Caričin Grad” art colony annually. The Roma community hosts two traditional events each year: the “Roma Ball” in January and “International Roma Day” on April 8.
